Issue: General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2025 Chevrolet Silverado EV work trucks. The pedestrian alert sound system may not produce sound at a sufficient volume. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 141, "Minimum Sound Requirements for Hybrid and Electric Vehicles."
Risk: A vehicle that fails to make sufficient sound may result in pedestrians being unaware of an approaching vehicle, increasing the risk of injury.
Remedy: Dealers will update the software in the body control module (BCM), free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed January 22, 2025. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020. GM's number for this recall is N242483530.

Complaints are self-reported and skew toward problems people find alarming, so treat this as where to look, not a defect rate.
The vehicle experienced repeated high-voltage system warnings and battery conditioning system failures. On multiple occasions the “Service High Voltage System” message appeared along with codes P0530 and P1C26 related to the lithium-ion battery conditioning system that controls heating and cooling of the high-voltage battery pack. A critical U3578 code triggered an urgent OnStar alert requiring immediate service. The high-voltage fault was linked to an overcharged HVAC system that caused the A/C compressor to fail. This led to a full HVAC system replacement, radio/infotainment failure, and multiple module reprogrammings. The vehicle could not charge past approximately 65% and showed a red 12-volt battery light after charging. Burning electrical smells were present during some incidents. Warning lights and messages appeared repeatedly and were confirmed by OnStar diagnostics on April 28, May 6, May 19, and June 16, 2026. The dealer performed warranty repairs including compressor and HVAC replacement per TSB 25-NA-130, yet the same high-voltage and battery conditioning faults returned. The problem has been reproduced and documented by the dealer and OnStar. These defects affect critical high-voltage battery thermal management and electrical systems. They create risks of sudden power loss, inability to charge, reduced drivability, and potential safety hazards. The vehicle has been out of service for extended periods and is currently parked due to ongoing safety concerns. The manufacturer was notified through warranty claims and EV Concierge case #95412771 but has not permanently resolved the defect. The failed components (high-voltage battery conditioning system, HVAC compressor, and related modules) are available for inspection upon request.
I feel asleep at the wheel somehow ended up hitting the car in front of me i know adaptive cruisae was on. After i hit the car i woke up and then ended up in a ditchg no airbags deployed or anything. I don't remember what happenedf up until i woke up. which was after i hit the car in front of me.
What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? GM and dealerships have report extensive failures of the Telematics Control Module (TCM) that connects onstar and provides GPS navigation ability. There is currently no issued recall. Yes, this can be provided for inspection. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? Unlike 2024 vehicles, where Android Auto is supported, providing a safe, hands free workaround for the failure of the TCM, on 2025 models, GM deliberately removed support for Android Auto to force OnStar subscription services, even for basic navigation. This greed-based decision, along with undisclosed failures of the TCM and months of back order waiting list to fix, puts drivers at significant safety risk when forced to revert to other navigation solutions. It is guaranteed this decision (putting safe navigation behind a paywall, and the mass failure of this hardware) will result in loss of life due to forcing drivers to revert to legacy and unsafe practices, including being forced to use their phone in a non-handsfree method. They also removed basic lane keeping warnings and steering, traditionally free with the vehicle and now only available with a full onstar subscription. This liability is exclusively due to the push towards subscription models at the impact of public safety. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Yes, dealership confirmed this failure and the extent of the failures across 2025 vehicles. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? No Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? All indications were normal except no data connectivity and GPS signal was also lost. As an officer in the military, I can't standby and let this deliberate impact to public safety continu
On Star Telematics Module is failed and on backorder and no ETA according to dealership and ONSTAR. This is a safety issue as GPS is unavailable, SOS is unavailable, Cannot Locate Vehicle if lost or stolen. The company is very slow in response and this seems to be a global known issue.
July 2025 RO (mileage ~5,500): Propulsion reduced power; AC loss/no cooling; charging failure; loose weather stripping; shark fin antenna loose; brake pedal clicking on stops; OnStar connectivity loss. July 13-22 2025 (mileage ~6,000): Electrical impairments; reduced acceleration/speed; vehicle not charging; weather stripping missing/loose; shark fin coming loose; brake clicking during stopping; no OnStar connectivity. September 11-October 20 2025 RO (mileage ~8,000-10,000): Intermittent transmission warnings; unexplained gear shifts; backup camera blackouts; infotainment/cluster glitches/freezes; repeated brake pedal clicking; hypersensitive safety system (abrupt hard braking/pulling). Recent unrepaired issues (December 2025, mileage ~13,000-13,100): Intermittent transmission warning light (on for 24 hours then off); unexplained shift to reverse while in Drive (rolled backward at stop light. no gear user input here to put truck in reverse. Had to restart truck to fix.); backup camera cutouts/blackouts while moving; infotainment/cluster glitches; repeated brake pedal clicking (5-6x per stop); hypersensitive safety system (abrupt braking/pulling to one side, overcorrections are safety hazard).

Navigational system is not functioning properly. On Star button remains in on position. All apps on dash will not connect to internet. Google Map cannot locate exact location of vehicle. Also phone app for the vehicle no longer communicating with the truck. Can only use key fab for minor functions. Can only use vehicle for short range driving, since long range driving plans cannot be determined.
Onstar no longer working and the Onstar Module that needs to replaced is on backorder with no time frame of getting the part. Happening to many GM vehicles with Onstar.
Observation: "While operating the vehicle in Reverse (R) with the One-Pedal Driving (OPD) mode enabled, the expected aggressive regenerative braking deceleration is disabled or significantly reduced compared to when driving forward in Drive (D). Safety Concern: "This creates an unexpected driving experience where the car continues to coast/accelerate without input when the accelerator is released, requiring the driver to use the traditional friction brake pedal to stop the vehicle. This goes against the driver's established muscle memory and expectation from OPD in Drive, creating a potential safety risk, especially in tight maneuvering situations where quick, expected stopping is necessary." Suggested Action: "Review the design choice to disable/reduce OPD-level regenerative braking in Reverse to determine if a gradual or driver-selectable level of regen braking could be safely implemented to maintain consistency with the OPD driving 'norm' and prevent unexpected coasting."
Over the past three days, my digital gauge cluster and digital entertainment center have locked up while driving. This means I have no idea how fast I’m going no idea if my turn signals are working and no idea what percentage of charge I have left. The screen stays frozen, even after the card was turned off. I have to wait hours before the car decides to finally reset itself. I have a video I can upload if requested.
While driving, the infotainment display went blank except for hvac display and became unresponsive. Within two minutes the instrument panel froze. Speed no longer updated. Turn signals no longer worked. Vehicle could not be powered off. Drive, reverse and park shifting worked. Camera displayed when shifted in reverse. System reset after plugging into charging station for a few minutes. Occurred multiple times over the last two weeks.
Fin on top of the truck covering key electrical components fell off after 3 weeks of ownership.
